Procaine

Procaine is the original local anesthetic, marketed as Novocaine. Structurally it is an ester between para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and 2-diethylaminoethanol. Two cuts get you home: undo the ester, then undo the aromatic amine by reducing it back to the nitro compound.
