Rapid route scouting for new targets
Synthetic chemist: from SMILES to a ranked short list of routes you would actually run.
When you start a new synthetic campaign, the first question is "is this target tractable, and what are my options?" This walkthrough takes you from a SMILES string to a ranked short list of routes you'd actually consider running.

Steps
- Open Submissions → Retrosynthesis in the sidebar.
- Paste or draw your target in the Target Molecule field. Use the Draw tab to open Ketcher if you'd rather sketch it.
- Pick a route length that matches your campaign goals. For first-pass scouting, 3 steps is a sensible default.
- Submit. Track progress on the Recent Tasks table.
- When the run completes, click into the result. Each route shows a Confidence score (model conviction, well-precedented vs novel) and a Scalability score.
- Sort by a scoring profile matching your priority (Discovery for fast scouting, Process for scale, IP for patent-aware ranking).
- Favorite the top 2-3 routes. Open Route Builder to mix-and-match steps across them if no single route is end-to-end satisfying.
What you walk away with
A short list of favorited routes ranked against your priorities, with confidence and scalability badges per route. Use the lab bundle export to ship any route to a bench chemist as a self-contained ZIP.
